Nicole Walker (b.1989, Gothenburg) is a glass artist and stylist based in Stockholm and Berlin. "Alien Vessels," her latest series of handblown, one-of-a-kind glass pieces, exclusive to Maiden Name, explores the fragility and strength of glass. Blown in her studio in Stockholm, the otherworldly forms evoke both seedpod and womb, continuing Walker's boundary-pushing explorations of sex and gender in the post-human body.
Paul Arnhold (b.1984, NY) began glass blowing as a teenager. He now works from a studio in Red Hook, Brooklyn. His pieces are all one-of-a-kind. The son of a dance teacher, he is drawn to the constraints of the production process––a process which unfolds as a single, unbroken sequence of steps dictated by the rhythm of the glass as it melts and hardens. There is no going back. Yet as Arnhold explains, “I’m always looking to find the moment of play within the process.”
