Tramp Box, made of hand-carved, layered pieces of cigar box and wood, lacquered, 1920, American. Interior drawer depicts Prince Henry of Prussia. “Tramp art” is a genre of primarily American art in which hand-carved pieces of wood, often from cigar boxes, were used to create dense geometric designs.

The items in Oglander’s collection are often marked by the lives they have led.  Damage and wear, Oglander explains, are part of the object’s story, adding to their beauty. We hope this piece will be a welcome addition to your collection.
