Maiden Name is pleased to present a new collaboration with the Berlin-based artist, Marco Bruzzone (b. Genoa, 1978). Bruzzone, whose work has been exhibited widely across Europe and in the US, has collaborated with Maiden Name on a handwoven rug and a set of two pillows that twist romantic notions of tradition, home, and craft. His textiles marry contemporary icons of modernity (the WiFi symbol and the selfie stick) and the ancient handcraft of weaving. The collection was woven by the Su Marmuri weaving cooperative in Sardinia––a group of women artisans, founded in 1971 in Ogliastra committed to preserving the laborious and beautiful craft of hand weaving.
